Type "upholstery Conover NC" into a phone, or just "plumber near me" from a driveway in town, and three pins on a map appear ahead of every website. Plenty of people never scroll past those three.
The pins are drawn from Google Business Profiles. What decides them is the category you pick, how filled-out the profile is, the reviews it has collected and the distance to the person searching. Distance is out of your hands. The rest isn't, and a tidy, correct profile that matches your site word for word is often the least expensive improvement a local company can make.
The playbook, one step at a time
You receive a plain-English playbook, ordered so the quickest wins come first. Then the two of you go through it. You do the clicking inside your own profile while Roger explains why each change matters, so you end up understanding the listing and the keys never leave your hands.
Choose the main category with care
Nothing on the profile counts for more. A near miss here can keep you out of the very searches you're after.
Add extra categories sparingly
Just a handful, and only for jobs you truly take.
Make name, address and phone agree
Character for character with your website, suite number included.
Draw the service area honestly
List the places your trucks really go, say Conover, Newton, Claremont and Hickory. Working from home? The street address can stay hidden.
List every service
Use the words buyers use, and link each one to its matching page.
Post new pictures often
Finished jobs, the shop floor, the crew, the vans. We point out which kinds of shots the profile is short on.
Collect reviews the honest way
Send a plain link once a job wraps up, and answer each review that comes in. None bought, none ghost-written.
Aim the website button well
Point it at whichever page helps most, which isn't always the front page.
The keys stay on your ring
Plenty of agencies want to be added as a manager on the listing. We won't ask. That profile may be the most valuable thing your company has online, and it belongs under your control alone. Doing it side by side costs a bit more of your time early on, and afterward you know how to keep it in good order without us.
How it ties in
Each website build ships with the playbook, so the listing and the new site line up from launch day. Local SEO clients get new listing chores every month. If the profile is all you want help with, mention that in your free estimate.
Listing questions
Do I have to hand over my Google login?
Never. We don't request manager rights on anyone's profile. The controls stay with you, and Roger talks you through each edit over the phone or a screen share as you make it.
When does it start to pay off?
Correcting a bad category or a stale phone number can register in a matter of weeks. What reviews and fresh photos do adds up gradually.
My business has no storefront. Is this still worth it?
It is. A business that goes to its customers can keep its address private and show the towns it covers.

Give Roger your web address, or tell him you don't have one. He pulls it up on his phone like a shopper off 1st Avenue would, then emails back a short list: what holds up, what wobbles and a price to fix it.
